Hey! Long time no see! I know it is Sunday but I wanted to kick this off before the weekly cadence of Thursday evenings commences. Here goes!

This morning it was 59 degrees here in Milwaukee. After a summer that seemed especially hot and especially long, that little bit of cool air felt pretty good. After a summer that didn’t include nearly enough fat-biking I am looking forward to preparing for the colder weather.

Fat-bike season is coming.

For a guy who likes to ride on beaches and trails, do bikepacking trips and generally ride plenty of places that have absolutely nothing to do with snow there is still something about that first cool morning that makes me start thinking about frozen trails, groomed singletrack, winter rides.

So, it seems like a good time to fire up the Weekly Dose of Fat again and get ready for another winter season.

I've spent a fair amount of time this summer working on Fat-bike.com , the website and tech itself, updating the infrastructure and getting the site ready for the future while trying to preserve the past.

I'm just about ready to flip the switch on the new version of the site.

Fat-bike.com has been around since 2011, which means there is a lot of history buried in those pages. My goal isn't to erase that. It is to make the site easier to use, easier to maintain and better suited to covering fat bikes in 2026 and beyond.

You should see those changes very soon.

The winter event season is starting to take shape.

I have several races and rides that need to be added to the calendars, and I'll be working through those over the next couple of weeks but here are some you can check out right away:
